Its NOT Too Late (Yet!) to Keep Our Federally Protected FREE ROAMING Wild Horses and Burros FREE!

We DO believe that federally protected FREE ROAMING (no fences) wild horses and burros should be PRIMARILY managed as mandated by LAW (the Free Roaming Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971) on federal/PUBLIC land on their VAST Herd Management Areas (HMA’s).

However, we are also practical-minded and pragmatic enough to know we do need to have EFFECTIVE plans in place regarding where horses and burros that are captured can either be kept for the rest of their lives in a sanctuary for those horses we call “I’d rather not” horses, which basically means they would “rather than not be trained captive-wild horses”, and also facilities where the younger horses and/or horses that don’t have the “wild mindset” ingrained in them (yet) can be trained and adopted into good homes.

The sad fact is that the old saying of “you can’t stop progress” is true……. and although many people happen to live out surrounded by federal and state PUBLIC land in the western “open range” states, which the tax payers in the US and/or the state pay with tax dollars to maintain, and although it IS VAST and often BARREN in many areas, the private business interests (primarily Corporations at this point because they have bought up and/or run-out the smaller “mom and pop” businesses that were operating on federal-public land) that wish to fence-off and control our public land are VERY powerful lobbies in Washington D.C. where all of the decisions pertaining to our Federal-Public land are made.

So UNLESS money is collected from donors donating to a wild horse and burro advocacy and/or rescue group that will then hire Lobbyists whose only job is to rally support for the federally protected wild horses and burros with the politicians in Washington D.C., videos like this one will not be seen AND understood by the “general public” of Americans who perhaps are not all that interested in the wild horse and burro issue, and our beautiful free roaming wild horses and burros will continue to be captured at an alarming and aggressive rate, warehoused, and most likely will end up being shipped by the thousands to commercial slaughter once the “misinformed, naïve, and disinterested general public” (who are in the majority by-the-way) are told by the “spin-doctors”/public relations/marketing people in the government and in the media that that is the most “humane” thing (and commercial slaughter for horses is NOT humane, and can NOT be made humane and there are facts that back up this claim) that can be done with them……even though that is patently FALSE information.

It would behoove ANYONE that loves wild horses and burros, and also ANYONE who perhaps doesn’t particularly care about the wild horses and burros but DOES like to camp, do off-roading, ride horses, hunt, fish, etc on federal-public land, to BAND and ORGANIZE TOGETHER for the simple reason that the only individuals standing between them and their ability to USE unfenced federal-PUBLIC land ARE the federally-protected free roaming wild horses and burros who must be allowed to FREE ROAM (no fences), and once they are eradicated and GONE, the fences that CONTROL the land will go up very quickly.

At that point, the tax-paying public will have to pay a “User Fee” to go on OUR public land we PAY to maintain, otherwise, we will be fined and/or arrested for trespassing if we go on our land and didn’t heed the fencing and signs telling us “No Trespassing”.

It is NOT too late to STOP the aggressive eradication and captures of OUR federally-PROTECTED FREE ROAMING wild horses and burros.

However, unless aggressive Lobbyists are hired to represent ONLY the federally-protected wild horses and burros in Washington D.C. where all of the decisions pertaining to federal-public land are made, bands of wild horses, and also wild burros, will go the way of the buffalo, which was horrendous and tragic in and of itself, and which should NOT be allowed to happen with our majestic, beautiful, and wild free roaming horses and burros too

RED ALERT!: Questions NEED to Be ASKED and ANSWERED Before Animal Owners Lose All of Their RIGHTS!

This blog post is written in response to another blog post at YesBiscuit located here:

The swindler animal rescues and organizations are steadily making progress in stomping on animal owners rights.

Pertaining to the New Hampshire Bill coming up for voting on Friday as written about in the YesBiscuit blog;

This is a bad Bill.

It is a bad Bill for the following reasons:

  1. It promotes the national and International abuse of animal welfare laws by allowing competitors, i.e. rescues, breeders, brokers, etc, to attack one another for personal enrichment.
  2. This Bill like most bills fails to acknowledge the hospice characteristic of many animal owners/rescues/sanctuaries, even though it is not illegal to care for aged, chronically ill, sick, or injured animals. Many animal owners and rescues care for animals with those characteristics listed above, and are subject to attack and seizure of their animals because of it.

While there is no law stating that it is illegal to provide care for terminally ill hospice animals, or chronically ill, aged, sick, or injured animals, it is often these specific animals that are used by rescues, spca’s, and humane societies to justify seizures which enriches these organizations through the collection of vast amounts of “sympathy/pity” donations. Animals such as those listed above are often killed after they have exhausted their “sympathy/pity donation-value” because they are unadoptable with or without a fee, and the rescues, humane societies, and spca’s are NOT in the “business” of keeping, caring for, and maintaining animals for months or years that have no value.

3. It has become epidemic across the country and around the world for animal rescues, humane societies, spca’s, and animal controls who “partner” with them to seize animals with no clear justification for seizure. It also allows people with personal vendetta’s, or that are competitors of another rescue, to attack their neighbors, other rescues, other breeders, or “whomever”, and “false report”, which is illegal.

  1. There is no clear set of guidelines for what constitutes abuse or neglect. If an animal is receiving food and water, and a safe place to live, there should be no law that allows the animal owner to be attacked, have their animals seized, and under only an accusation, have to PAY for their seized animals care before they have even gone to court on the matter.

There are many people who have appointed themselves as judge, jury, and executioner when they have no special training to do so. And if animal owners can produce evidence regarding the feeding and care of their animals, the animals should NOT be seized.

An example of this are the many seizures that are done in the United States when horses are “ribby”, and those people seizing the horses preferring to see them overweight. And if these rescues also cannot get weight on the horse through feed and also supplements, medication, etc, they usually kill the horse for the simple reason many of them tout a very high, even 100& rehabilitation-rate, and horses like this make them look bad.

Over-weight is also far more dangerous to a horse than thin, and as written in this statement by Dr. Don Henneke, the inventor of the weight assessment scale for horses that MOST horse rescues use (and mis-use according to Dr. Henneke), before he passed away in 2012, blood work and other examinations should be done with horses BEFORE they are removed from the custody and care of the horse owner because simply being thin or even skinny does not justify seizure in most cases:

Here is information regarding what the FBI calls Animal Enterprise Terrorism aka “seizures scams” or “rescue raids” that ARE happening in epidemic proportions across the country, and also around the world:

Going forward, any animal rescue humane society, spca, or animal control that “partners” with any of these organizations, should be held to account for their organizations information, the physical address of their rescue facility, their foster home locations, their history in rescuing animals, their affiliations with other animal welfare and/or animal rights organizations such as the HSUS, PETA, the ASPCA, and others, the posting of vet reports, euthanasia reports, billing information for professional services rendered by veterinarians, retail or wholesale outlets providing feed and supplies for animals, etc.
A handy questionnaire that can and should be sent to animal welfare and rescue organizations is located here:

And although currently the accountability questionnaire is voluntary, it NEEDS to become a requirement in order to “weed-out” and EXPOSE the donation-funded organizations and individuals who are “into rescue” entirely for their own enrichment, and not because the welfare of animals matters much, if at all, to them.
Questions MUST be asked and answered by these rescues and organizations before its too late and more legislation is passed that will allow these crooks to come in and steal peoples animals, and destroy peoples lives.

It poses questions that no rescue, humane society, spca, or an animal control that partners with any of those orgs, that operate publically should have a problem answering and sending the completed questionnaire back to the sender.

As an example: for an animal rescue, the sender would send Page 2 (pertains to specific verification and fact-check information for an animal rescue) and also Pages 6-10.

For an SPCA, Page 4 and Pages 6-10 would be sent.

It is a starting point to be able to prove to the AG’s offices when complaints were/are sent in that a publically operating donation-funded, that is often adoption-based, animal rescue, humane society, spca, or animal control partnering with any of these orgs are REFUSING to answer questions sent by someone in the public BEFORE they will donate to any of these orgs.

If a complaint is sent to the AG’s office and questions have not been asked by the complainant, the AG’s office probably won’t investigate and will in all probability tell the complainant they have to ask the questions before they can complain.
However, if a questionnaire was sent to a donation-funded org operating publically and they refuse to answer simple questions that go to accountability and full disclosure and “transparency” (the favorite “buzz” and “emotion-evoking” word used by “retail rescues” who often are about as far away from transparency as one can get), then a complaint to the AG’s office, along with the email or pm sending the questionnaire to an org that didn’t respond, or perhaps got combative, would be justified and the org will find themselves answering questions posed by the AG’s office instead.

Currently, these animal ‘rescues’ and other orgs present themselves as “rescues” but never have to disclose any info about themselves.
That’s like going in to apply for a job, presenting a resume the applicant made up themselves, and saying “No, I don’t need to fill out that pesky old job application because everything you need to know about me is right here in my handy-dandy resume”.
No employer in their right minds would hire that person, but this crap happens everyday with so-called ‘rescues’ attacking animal owners with the help of law enforcement and no one really knows who and what the ‘rescues’ are.

At this point, if questions are asked but not answered, then it must be assumed these are not real rescues and they are simply “retail rescues”/animal brokers/dealers “freshening up their merchandise” for the ever hungry public that is literally “addicted to crisis rescuing” such as seizures, big herds of horses, etc that have big pay days in terms of donations being sent in, animals are then “sorted”, the animals that are unadoptable because they have “issues”, and whose “sympathy/pity donation-value” has been exhausted, are “convenience killed”, and the other animals are sold under the guise of “adoption for a fee” under absurd adoption agreements and contracts which often give the rescue “the right” to go in and take an animal away from the adopters without just cause, and often after the adopters have spent money and time on training the animal, which makes them more valuable indeed.

Its time for the rescues and other orgs and government agencies who “partner” with them to be held to account for their background information, their history, their activities, WHERE are all of the animals that are seized 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year later, WHERE are all of the vet reports, euthanasia reports, vet bills, feed bills, payments to transporters, to the founders of rescues, to people at animal control who receive kickbacks from some rescues, etc.
And WHY is animal control and law enforcement, whose salaries are paid by tax payers, doing seizures working with out-of-area ‘rescues’ quite often, at the tax payers expense?

Questions should be asked, and if not answered, then complaints need to be sent to AG’s offices, the Department of Ag, the Taxation Board, the local DA’s office, and also the Governor of the state this Nazi activity is happening in because without accountability and full disclosure, everything these animal ‘rescues’ and organizations do is suspect and most assuredly involves the making of large sums of money to the instigators, while their “volunteer-slaves” and the “social media madness mobs” the ringleaders whip-up do all their dirty work for them.

And make NO MISTAKE: the founders of ‘rescues’ and organizations, the ringleaders and master manipulators in other words, with a few primary “inner circle” players, are really only interested in the MONEY, the POWER, the CONTROL, and the ACCOLADES, and NOT all that interested in the welfare of any animals because put very simply: they are usually the common variety sociopaths and narcissists, and many are also criminals running a scam too.

And remember, swindlers in animal ‘rescue’ NEVER act alone, and without the mobs they whip-up, and their True Believer ‘enabler’ followers who continue to “drink the Kool-Aid”, THEY are NOTHING but insecure, sociopathic, narcissistic cowards who will NOT answer questions because that WILL expose something else they ARE: CRIMINALS!

Humane Euthanasia or the Convenience Killing of Unadoptable/Un-Useful Animals?

Disgusting and monstrous in my opinion is what Hitler’s euthanasia program during World War II was (link at bottom of this post).

And what prompted this blog post today is this bittersweet blog post at this link:

Unfortunately, some horse rescues (and it also happens with dogs, cats, and other species-specific animal rescues too), utilize “putting down” in various ways horses just because they can’t or won’t “do” anything ‘useful’ for anyone anymore and most people, and also many donation-funded ‘rescues’ that are only able to operate because of the kindness of their donors, do not want to maintain an un-useable horse or other animal.

Then the convincing and rationalizing begins to “explain” to the ignorant, naïve, and yes, the apathetic, *why* it “HAD” to be done.
And although many of the “rescues” followers seem to go along with it so as not to be ostracized from the “social club rescue” they support and/or donate to, there are also those ghoulish people who actually compliment the rescue for doing “the compassionate thing” even though 1. its not always compassionate at all and is in fact SELFISH and 2.  they have NOT been shown any vet reports that the killing is necessary as per the attending vet.

Some people also completely disagree with killing animals just because they can’t or won’t do things for people that are “useful” by the practical meaning of the word.
However, these people do not voice their opinions for fear of being ostracized from “the rescue club” (some people never got past 7th grade social standards and can’t deal with “standing alone”), attacked by people, or there being retribution, bullying, smear campaigns, etc for protesting that just because an animal is old, may not look so great, has some aches and pain it lives with, has behavioral/training issues that make them unsafe to ride, etc, just like with most people that have “issues” often not being “useful”, the animal probably does not want to die or be killed by the humans that “rescued” them, or were perhaps entrusted to take care of them, and killing the animal is a complete betrayal.

There also appears to be competition for donation money and also a competition for a following of rescuers, which is very sad indeed, that keeps many animal rescues from actually working with one another to secure good homes, sanctuaries, or hospice care for more animals, rather than fewer.

However, people who are truly in rescue for the animals do not worry about donation money, a following, how many “Likes” they have on Facebook, etc, and instead will problem-solve and work in unity with other rescues to find permanent homes for more animals that are un-useable rather than simply killing off animals they don’t “deal” in.

Unfortunately, there is great donation-value for “crisis rescued” animals, and the gaining of a much larger “following” of supporters, when rescues do what is called “crisis rescuing”.
This is the very PUBLIC ‘rescuing’ of animals (as opposed to “no fanfare” mundane, behind-the-scenes” rescuing of animals that most people are not inclined to donate much money too) that are not in good shape, not at the greatest of facilities, (discussing “standards of care” will be another blog post), “out-bidding kill buyers” at sales that feature horses, even in states where the commercial horse slaughter industry is BANNED but the horse rescues REFUSE to HELP the proper agencies vested with the enforcement of the law pertaining to horse slaughter with ENFORCEMENT of the existing law, and engaging in Animal Enterprise Terrorism attacks aka “seizure scams” or “rescue raids” whereby ALL of the horses, and other animals, are seized from a property in “partnership” with an animal control, which often they get FREE horses with great “adoption for a fee” value, and the horses not in good condition are excellent for pulling in many thousands of dollars in “sympathy/pity”-donations.

Unfortunately, once this second type of horse, or other types of animals, have exhausted their sympathy/pity donation-value, and if they aren’t useful for anything, THESE horses (and other animals) are often the ones killed because the “rescue” does NOT want to spend the free donation money they received doing the “crisis rescue” on maintaining and caring for a horse with no-value that can’t be used for anything.

What these types of rescues should perhaps understand/acknowledge, and many actually do KNOW exactly what they’re doing (fleecing the public out of free donation money with little or no accountability or disclosure to the public because it is almost entirely voluntary) is what role they play in rescue, their niche basically, and not take in horses or other animals that are perhaps not trained and/or are beyond the ability of the rescue staff to train, that are wild/dangerous to handle, so routine things like deworming, teeth floating, hoof trims, etc are a MAJOR production with these types of horses that MOST people cannot and/or will not deal with, and they definitely should not take in horses they can’t rehabilitate back to health if their rehabilitation rate being high is ultra important to them, and they kill the animals that can’t be rehabilitated so that they can continue to say dumb things like “we have a 100% rehabilitation rate and counting in that percentage the animals they KILLED.

Should horses die by slaughter, humane euthanasia, or be “put down” using other methods just because they are wild/dangerous if there are rescues/sanctuaries/hospices willing to take them?

Should horses and other animals be killed just because upon “sorting” and ‘evaluation’ they are found to have physical and/or behavioral/training issues that render them unadoptable with or without a fee, or they are simply not “useful” to anyone in the short amount of time a ‘rescue’ may allow them for a new home to present itself? Are two days enough, a week, a month, what is the time frame to decide to kill an animal?

Maybe its when animal rescues do the newest trend in rescuing which is “out with the old, in with the new rescuing” or “freshening-up the merchandise” (the animals as “merchandise”) and killing animals that haven’t been adopted, or just like what kill buyers at feedlots do, animals are simply killed (kill buyers ship the horses off to slaughter even though they may still need more weight on them) to make room for “new” animals.
This is a ploy rescues use in order to keep the “addicted to crisis rescuing” public engaged and not moving on to another rescue that is more “exciting” and going a million miles an hour of full throttle drama

Horses or other animals that are lame, that have chronic conditions, are old, etc that make them difficult, if not impossible, to adopt to anyone, whether with an adoption fee, or without, but that don’t want to be dead before-their-time by humane euthanasia or other killing methods because of age, condition, wild, untrained, dangerous to handle, have some aches and pains and are lame but can be maintained comfortably on meds, etc, deserve to live.
And the humans that “rescued” them using donation-money to do so (in other words, the rescue is acting on behalf of their donors to rescue the animals because they do NOT have their own money to rescue the animals themselves) are entrusted with preserving life when possible, and easing the animal into death when it is their time to pass.

Just as people with these conditions of disability, chronic conditions, old age, that have terminal illnesses, etc don’t necessarily want to be dead either, especially when the decision is made by other people and they have no choice in the matter, many animals feel the same way to be sure. And while it may be difficult for some/many people to visually look at some animals that may not look so good but are still enjoying whatever phase of life they’re in even if they are “winding down, most of us see people every day that while some may find it difficult to look at them too, that person does not want to die by euthanasia or otherwise, and are still enjoying their life in whatever phase of life they are in, and in whatever condition mentally and/or physically.

What is disappointing however is when the rescues that kill animals after they have found the animal will not be useful to them or anyone else, is un-adoptable, has pulled in as many donations as possible and their donation-value is exhausted, etc, go on the attack toward rescues/sanctuaries/hospices whose primary role is taking in animals that are un-useable by humans for anything, but who will maintain them until it is time for humane euthanasia.
Don’t these horses, dogs, cats, and other animals deserve to live even if they are older, are lame, are wild and/or dangerous to handle, sometimes don’t look so great, etc, and even if a facility is nothing fancy and they don’t live in the lap of luxury but have other animals they live with for companionship 24/7/365?

Once again, many people think they do, and those who have been around animals a long time not only value their lives, they also know when an animal is “saying” and “telling” them they want to “go” (pass on), and will have them put down in a dignified, humane way.

And finally, and in order to refute the worn-out shady explanation of “why” rescues that kill un-useable animals are being un-selfish (NOT!), most rescues that take in these types of animals that are not useful to anyone do not have a lot of difficulty in having the animal humanely euthanized WHEN the animal tells them “I’m done, can you help me?” Yes, there is emotional attachment, however, if the animal is “saying” with their expression, posture and demeanor that they are not enjoying life anymore and/or if they are not eating, they are in moderate/severe pain that cannot be controlled anymore, they can no longer lie down and/or get up with, or without, help, etc, then the decision to euthanize is an easier one because the person that cares for them understands what the animal is asking them to do.

People who basically deal in hospice care for animals, while not desensitized to euthanizing animals are instead at peace with putting an animal down when it’s their time because they know they gave the animal a peaceful life they otherwise would not have had if they hadn’t taken the animal into their care when no one else would.

And many rescues who mostly take in un-useable animals are not interested in the more “social” aspects of animal rescue, they do not deal in adopting animals out, their facility is private because of the nature of the animals they take in, etc.
In other words, not all rescues want to do adoptions and interact with the public in the public-rescue domain, and are happy to take in animals no one else wants and care for them until the animal indicates they wish to “go on”.

We see less and less of these types of rescues because unless they “self-fund” and take care of the animals needs on their own by working at jobs “outside of rescue”, more and more people who donate are being convinced that these types of animals are “not worthy” of living because they can’t or won’t “do” for people, they are “devalued”, people become desensitized and habituated to the killing, they are apathetic, and sadly, they pass these attitudes onto their children which takes the de-valuation attitude into the next generation.

It starts with animals, but is it any wonder that old people, people with “issues”, etc, are put in privatized “homes”/facilities, or often, in government run “county homes” because the high rates for a privatized care facility are very expensive.
Although most of us have not been involved with euthanizing hundreds/thousands of animals because we were not/are not animal control officers, vet techs, work on a farm or ranch where animals are raised as a food source, working for veterinarians, etc, who often routinely do those things and develop means to “disassociate themselves” (I have heard that term used by more than a few vet techs, animal control officers, vets, and farm workers) from what they are doing and/or become what is called “habituated” to it, it does not mean that the keepers of these damaged animals don’t know when an animal is truly “ready to go” and they have their vet humanely euthanize the animal and set them free. And sometimes just keeping the animal comfortable and they pass naturally as many people do in hospice at home or in a hospice setting, is a peaceful way to die too if the animal nearly to the moment of death never does “ask” to be set free with human intervention.

Many of us have our roles we play in animal rescue, but when “the gold standard” or “norm” of animal rescue is to typically, and OFTEN cavalierly and without remorse or conscience, euthanize animals just because they serve no purpose to the rescue that rescued them, or to any humans for that matter, THAT is a problem for society and how value is, or isn’t placed on lives.

Making it worse is when the rescues that DON’T maintain unadoptable horses and other animals go on the attack for their own reasons and with their own agendas, on the rescues that are primarily sanctuaries for unwanted animals and hospice for terminal animals and that DO take in unwanted animals, and that attack causes unadoptable animal rescuers to not rescue any animals anymore, it IS the unwanted animals that lose their lives before their time, whether they were ready to die or not.
Attacking other rescues, especially when they don’t do the same type of rescuing the attacking rescue does and are not in “competition” for donation-dollars with other rescues, is uncivilized, it is de-civilizing, it is selfish and greedy because its about donation money and a following of supporters, and it sullies the memory of an animal who experienced an untimely death at the hands of humans who possess no compassion, empathy, conscience, or soul regarding the sanctity of life even when “its only an animal”.

Here is the link to more information on Hitler’s Euthanasia Program for people in Germany:

And least we not forget, we already have laws on the books to regulate and require certain things in the care of our animals; the providing of food, water, and basic necessities, so to allow ANYONE to come in and seize someone’s personal property animals when they are being provided with at least basic care is unconstitutional and against the law because of the broad spectrum of what is considered basic care and maintenance, and also taking into consideration the animals, just like with people, ability to adapt and acclimate to the environment in which they live.

There is a glaring lack of accountability on the part of animal controls, ‘rescues’, humane societies, spca’s, and others when they perform a seizure or raid. With that in mind, accountability rules and regulations have become necessary to protect private property animal owners from illegal and unjust seizure and theft of personal property animals, assets, and all other property with value. When a seizure or raid basically turns into a looting free-for-all, that is when the crooks are running the show, and innocent people get trampled, wrecked, and ruined legally, emotionally, and often physically too.

More people are fighting back regarding illegal seizures by spca’s, humane societies, and ‘rescues’……. and most seizures really aren’t so much about helping animals, because if that were the case, true rescues would offer help for all of the animals right where they are at.

Some, perhaps many, of the seizures are really big business now, and are basically about spca’s, humane societies, and rescues getting in thousands of dollars in “crisis” and/or “sympathy/pity” donations, they make sure the media is involved to ramp-up mobs of inflamed people who don’t even know what is going on and/or the circumstances, etc, they “put down” without posting any vet reports/necropsy results of why the animal was really put down, and some rescues simply “disappear” animals to who-knows-where that are not candidates for “adoptions for a fee”, or even without a fee for that matter, because they have physical and/or behavioral/training “issues” that render them unadoptable and the rescues are not normally in the business of caring for, and maintaining animals long term or in hospice care.

If this were not the case, then WHY do we see so many dogs, cats, horses, llama’s, etc advertised on Craigslist for FREE?

If rescues were really rescuing out of the goodness of their hearts and to help animals, we wouldn’t be seeing any free animals that are in jeopardy of going to animal control to be euthanized, dogs taken for free being used as bait dogs for training pit bull fighting dogs, people going around “bundling” free animals to sell to labs, and horses being picked up by kill buyers and/or horse traders that send them to slaughter.

And if rescues are “for real”, they should always be willing to offer help to the animal owner and animals right where they live instead of seizing someone’s animals as a 1st course of action. Rescues can ask for donations from the public to help animals right where they are at. However, that would then require a high degree of accountability and “transparency” on the part of the rescues, and that is not now required when they do seizures, but hopefully will be changing going forward so that rescues that are often fronts for brokers/dealers of animals will have to provide a lot of information to show they really are rescuing, and not simply “cherry picking” and/or stealing animals for free to partake of free donation money and “adoptions for a fee” on animals they got for free and did a seizure and then maintained the free animals with free donation money.

All parties in a seizure need to be held accountable for providing their itemized financials on donations from all sources for that seizure, where all the donations are going, pertinent documents, receipts, vet reports, etc, and all non-profits, or anyone getting in free donation money from animal lovers, need to account for every penny they get in, and where every penny is going.

And GuideStar is not the greatest source of transparency, accountability, and full disclosure for the simple reason it is not an itemized list, and quite frankly, if a rescue is on the “up and up” when they are doing seizures, they should be perfectly willing to show ALL of their financials, receipts, vet reports, EVERYTHING to show they truly are the “real deal” and are rescuing for the right reasons.

We are working toward having counties, cities, and states having a “hospice care” designation for animals that will protect the animal owners from master manipulators and their following of “social media madness mobs” of crazy people from forcing pet owners and rescues to kill their animals before the animal wants to be dead.

All it will take to turn this abnormal killing of supposedly rescued animals around  is for the donating and supportive public to ask questions of the animal rescues regarding their euthanasia policy BEFORE they donate.

Only then will the public be in the position to trustingly donate to rescues that often and unfortunately choose death over life for “rescued” animals, when a first consideration should ALWAYS be to listen to the animal because they never lie when it comes to their passing-on, or continuing to live their lives in each wonderful moment.

To Adopt (an animal), Or Not to Adopt, THAT is the Question…..

AKC Peta photo

The billboard in the photo above is now on I-70 near the Denver Dog Show Venue…..

“Adoption for a fee” with many donation-funded animal rescues is actually “buying under contract” and being held hostage by the contract after you’ve put hundreds or thousands of dollars into your adopted animal, but have to give the “rescue” first right of refusal to take the animal back before you can give the animal away, or sell them as personal property animal owners are allowed to do, no matter how long you’ve had the animal, no matter what training you’ve put into them, no matter what ?…….

And although we’re all for adopting from an animal control, animal services, or animal shelter, and have done so many times over the past 45+ years, some people just really want a purebred dog, cat, or even a horse and/or they want a history on the animal they will be BUYING.

Adoption Contracts and Agreements:
Many people also are not “into” adoption contracts if they get an animal from a rescue.
The rescue may have just “pulled” the dog or cat from AC, or perhaps just forced an animal owner into a surrender of animals, or there was a seizure of animals, because of a “social media madness mob” let loose on the animal owner, perpetrated and orchestrated by a donation-funded rescue “into” doing “crisis rescuing”, collecting bushel barrels of donation money, and getting animals entirely for free, so the “rescue” has little, or no history on the animal being offered for adoption.

Then there are also the high adoption fee’s many rescues charge for the animal, and when the high adoption fee is combined with little or no history for the animal, it leads many people to just buy an animal from a breeder and not a animal trader/broker/dealer posing as a “rescue”.

Legitimate Breeders and Local, Regional, State, and Federal Licensing:
Consider also that a legitimate dog and/or cat breeder also has to “jump through a lot of hoops” in terms of licensing and inspections because not all dog and cat breeders are considered equal.

Additionally, breeders who under the regulations of their city/town, county, or state may not be required to be licensed by the federal government may be required to obtain a license and have an inspection by their local municipality. Each town, county and state is different.

These  breeders, who are often breeding for fewer litters, will also have periods of time where no breeding occurs that spans years sometimes, thus the reason they are not required to be licensed with federal agencies.

An observation from a dog owner who is not a dog breeder:

In many ways, buying from a breeder versus a shelter is like buying a new car or home versus used. If you must buy used, you’ll generally get the best deal straight from the owner, rather than through a broker.
The Realtor simply cannot know all the details about a house that an owner who has lived there many years does. The car salesman, if he does know of prior damage or faults, will often try to hide or sugar-coat them, or just play ignorant.
Usually, an honest owner will divulge things that could probably use attention or repair.

It’s the same with an animal. The owner who has raised the dog nearly all its life will likely have old vet records, actual birthdate, and probably even the dog’s favorite toy or blanket to help make the transition a bit less stressful. Toys and blankets and favorite foods simply get trashed at a shelter, and it’s rare that any shelter dog comes with papers of any sort, other than a brief checklist the person surrendering the animal filled out.
If the person “found” the dog or only had it a short time, that checklist is not much better than a birdcage liner.
Shelter dogs so often are plagued with diarrhea, due to the in-attention to previous diet and an immediate change to the shelter’s preferred feed (usually the cheapest available). Then you take the dog home, and they don’t bother telling you what they’ve been feeding, and you feed yet another brand… Bingo- diarrhea again!”

Serious, responsible dog and cat breeders also know their animals lineage forward and backwards, they know the characteristics and traits of the animals they breed, they do NOT do what we call “fad breeding” (we see this a lot in horses too) which can and sometimes does negatively impact a dogs conformation, their disposition (because some of this fad breeding changes their conformation and they begin to have physical issues at a younger age which can change their temperament because they are in pain), the way they move and travel and what they can do physically, etc.

These breeders ARE taking good care of their dogs, they follow the rules and regulations, they are open to surprise visits from animal control and other agencies inspections if they are licensed, and although they may not have the “showplace” some dog breeders have, their property IS in compliance with their licensing requirements, it is functional above the basic requirements, and these breeders are doing nothing wrong, and probably are doing most everything right other than satisfying some peoples image of “what” a dog breeders, or any species-specific animal breeders, property *should* look like.

It is also ludicrous to think there can be “across the board” standards regarding what a property or facility “should” look like, and it can vary widely in different regions in the same state, and certainly in different states around the country regarding what is a critical need for the animals, and what is just for “show”, “image”, and “first impressions”.

“Seizure Scams” and Getting Purebred Dogs (and other animals) For FREE:
All it takes with the money, power, control, and accolade-hungry donation-funded ‘rescue’ (term used loosely) is for them to get some photos that they KNOW will NOT measure up to “the standards” (whatever they are, but these ‘rescues’ KNOW how to “push the right buttons” to ramp their supporters into an emotional equivalent of piranha’s feeding on a body in the water) of their followers who may, or may not have dogs, if they do have dogs its usually a few that they bring in the house and they sleep on the bed, they have never dealt with dogs with “issues” that perhaps do NOT want to be house dogs (we have a few of those that have to be given Bach’s Rescue Remedy when we bring them in the house if the temps drop too low), etc, and they incite them into aggressive behavior.
This begs the question: are we as human beings really all that ‘civilized’, or is all it takes is a master manipulator/swindler at a “rescue” (and since we don’t have any background information on most of these rescues founders and primary players because they refuse to answer questions, and they also tell so many stories to different people that are fictional, this is why questionnaires MUST become a requirement) to play to their emotions and they are “de-civilized” into their baser human nature?

The breeders that are most often attacked by donation-funded “rescues” are those who do NOT have a super nice place, it may even be a bit ‘ramshackle’ but it still meets the requirements set forth to be approved for, and maintain their licensing, and the ‘rescue’ knows they can ramp up a “social media madness mob” very easily.

Make no mistake however; their bottom-line and goal is to TAKE those dogs for FREE, use the churning-with-indignation-and-furious anger-mob and thousands of dollars in FREE donation money to do it, and then they “sort” the dogs (calling it “evaluating”), kill the ones who have exhausted their “sympathy/pity-donation value”, and blame it on the owner that the dog was “neglected” and “we had to euthanize them”, even when they were NOT neglected at all.

The other purebred dogs are SOLD under the guise of “adoption for a fee”, the rescue pockets the money (and since they refuse to publically post ALL of the vet reports, we can only assume at this point that the dogs are often NOT being looked at by a vet at all, and they ARE pocketing the money).

THIS SCAM is exactly why we need accountability and full disclosure requirements to become a REQUIREMENT for ALL primarily donation-funded rescues that are also usually adoption-based too, because as long as it’s not, these “rescues that aren’t” will continue to profit GREATLY in what is supposed to be NON-PROFIT.

HELP As a 1st Course of Action by Rescues:
Instead of harassing people into surrendering their animals, or doing seizures, (and a REAL rescue, even one that is primarily donation-funded, will always try to offer HELP for the animals and their owner right at their own property as a 1st course of action), how about if these donation-funded rescues take in every free dog, cat, horse, or whatever animals are being offered on Craigslist because things may not turn out too well for them unless a rescue takes them in? Why don’t they do that? BECAUSE that is not a “crisis rescue” and the collection of free donation-money is not ENOUGH by a long shot.
And although they can feel good they did a nice thing for some animals, for many of the donation-funded adoption-based rescues, their bottom line is the collection of FREE $$$ like the good (NOT!) little “welfare rescues” and pan-handlers they are, and even though the  accolades and warm cuddles’ are the icing on the cake, or the cherry on top, they don’t pay the bills, or buy material things that are of ultra importance to many of these “retail rescues” that are donation-funded, and can only operate from the generosity and kindness of others from the collection of donations, material goods, and least we not forget, donations also help them “freshen-up the merchandise” with the acquisition of more and more animals they can sell that they would NOT be able to take care of with their own money because most of the founders, and many of the primary participants with these types of ‘rescues’, do NOT have jobs “outside of rescue” and “rescue IS their job”……good work if someone’s willing to be a swindler that will NOT answer questions because they don’t (yet) have to.

Back to the ‘Rescues’ Often PREPOSTEROUS Adoption Contracts:
And besides the sometimes very high adoption fees, the adoption contract and agreement are so intrusive, long-reaching into the future, and some are even downright condescending and treat potential adopters like they are imbeciles, they are unbearably ABSURD in MANY cases because they FAVOR the ‘rescue’.

Accountability and Full Disclosure Questionnaire to Weed-Out the ‘Players in Rescue’ (and also the publics willingness to send it to rescues and get answers):
Before anyone donates or “adopts” (buys) an animal from a donation-funded adoption-based rescue, please send the accountability and full disclosure questionnaire located to them to find out if they will voluntarily answer questions and send the completed questionnaire back to the sender.

Here’s the questionnaire: Accountability and Full Disclosure Questionnaire-A Necessity

Most of these types of rescues will not even fill out only Page 2 which pertains to basic information about the rescue that they should have NO PROBLEM disclosing if they are “for real”.
And answering the actual questions on Pages 6-10 has only a miniscule chance of being answered and returned to the sender.

Whether they fill it out or not is really NOT the point however.
The questionnaire is simply a starting point to build a case for the AG’s office that it needs to be a REQUIREMENT and NOT voluntary.
And it also serves the purpose of EXPOSING those ‘rescues’ who will NOT answer QUESTIONS.
If they will not answer SIMPLE questions when asked, what intelligent person would send them money and/or support them?

If on the other hand the donating public and also supporters and followers of rescues can’t be bothered to at least ASK questions, then when you find out your “favorite rescue” is in fact simply a bunch of scammers and a den of thieves who treat animals as “merchandise” to be bartered, sold, and often killed if they are not useful and useable anymore, you have only yourself to blame for not being more pro-active because you were afraid to find out the truth, you didn’t want to take the time to send a simple file to a rescue, humane society, spca, or animal control that “partners” with one of these entities, you didn’t have time, or “whatever”.

As it is now, its nearly impossible to know which donation-funded rescues/organizations are on the up-and-up because there literally are no requirements besides filing their tax forms to the IRS.

The much more important questions of exactly WHERE are all of the animals they have rescued using donated funds are, the public posting of the vet reports seeing as most of these donation-funded rescues make it sound like they either are taking animals to the vet everyday, or in the case of large animal mobile vets, it sounds like the vet must sleep on the couch at the “rescue” so they can get an early start of examining and evaluating horses.

The BIG problem with this picture is that MOST rescues show very few, if any, vet reports, even when asked to in PM’s, emails, or public comments on their Facebook pages. They show very few, if any, euthanasia reports. They show few, if any, vet bills, and on it goes of them only doing “photo op’s”, “staged photos”, they write their more fiction than fact posts, but the important information never sees the light of day.

“Dialing for Donations aka “Panhandling for Dollars”:
Then there’s also the problem of them constantly begging and panhandling for donations from the public, they bring in more, and more, and more animals all the time, but their adoptions, their euthanasia’s don’t even come close to how many animals they’ve “rescued”, which then begs the question “where in the hell ARE ALL of the animals”? We want a list of WHERE all of the animals the “rescue” has “rescued” in the past year ARE at this very moment, and we want it NOW.

Introspection for the Public and WHY They Help Rescue:
Perhaps some introspection will cause people to think long and hard before they complain about the “who”, “what”, “why”, “when”, and “where” in relation to donation-funded animal rescues. Unless you ASK the questions, even knowing and anticipating the questions will not be answered, it puts you a step ahead when filing complaints with various government entities including the AG’s office, the IRS, the FBI, the Taxation Board, etc because you will have factual PROOF you did ASK questions and the rescue would NOT answer.

Most people will not offer the answers on their own, no matter how NOT transparent and NOT accountable they turn out to be, or how transparent and accountable they surprisingly are once the questions are asked.
They are actually PROUD to be the good gals and guys in animal rescue, doing the tough job of real rescue, and they will answer questions posed to them in order to win the publics TRUST and set themselves apart from other “rescues that aren’t”.

And before anyone thinks you’re being picked on, you actually are if you’re not willing to be the sleuth and detective at least asking for the whereabouts,  and inquiring about the well-being of ALL of the animals that are supposed to be “rescued” but often are not rescued at all because the rescue killed them if they had “issues” that made them unadoptable with or without a fee, and they had also run-through and exhausted their “donation-value”.

Are many of these very public and very vocal donation-funded rescues/organizations making a boatload of money? Yep, some sure are, and its important to find out if they will post their financials seeing as they have a chance to list they will pay themselves and others salaries when they file with the IRS, and if they didn’t  that way, then the public they are always asking for money from is entitled to know where every penny of that money is being spent, on WHO, on WHAT, WHEN, and WHERE.

So why doesn’t the donating and supportive public get on the same page, ask questions without combativeness, and if these rescues/organizations ignore you, or if they won’t fill out the information that is being politely asked for and instead they go on the attack on the sender of questions, then ALL of that can be posted publically, as well as sent into the AG’s office, the IRS, and also the taxation board, seeing as some of these animal rescues are actually *also* breeders and/or sale consignment facilities where they sell animals on a commission basis. THAT can be a CONFLICT of Interest, very well could have funds being co-mingled, and that is against the law.

Please be proactive in at least asking the questions as a starting-point for accountability and that way it can be proven the questions were asked, but the rescue chose NOT to answer, and that looks very shady indeed.

Why People Don’t Ask Questions; And Why They Should If They Are An Animal Lover:
People often don’t ask questions because they may be ignored by a rescue they support and/or have donated to, or they are afraid of the answers they may get not being true when fact-checked and verified. THAT would be a huge hit to a stalwart supporters trust and faith in the rescue, so to avoid the disappointment, some people become what are called “true believers” or “enablers” instead. Without knowing the facts and truth of their favorite rescue, they instead prefer to staunchly defend them, harass and threaten people for them, and sometimes even find themselves in court because of them regarding committing defamation, libel, slander, cyber-bullying and harassment, etc.
In other words, their defense of the rescue, or going on the offense/attack for the rescue, can have much farther reaching repercussions than they might have imagined.

With social media marketing being entirely free, non-profit animal rescues have p in record numbers. Unfortunately, some, perhaps many of the donation-funded rescues are nothing more, and nothing less than two bit con-artists fleecing the public with the help of “enablers” who will not ask questions.

So unless the majority of the public make time and put in some effort to ask questions and get answers from any and all primarily donation-funded rescues, the swindlers in ‘rescue’ will ride their gravy train as far and as fast as it will go, and in the end and ultimately, it is ALWAYS the animals who suffer because of the negative human nature traits of greed, over-blown ego’s, selfishness, low morals, and a lack of honor and honesty.

Retail-Welfare Rescues and WHY Their Founders and Primary Participants Do What They Do

fraud photo

This blog post is in relation to the article at this link:

And this link at #4 explains the tax benefits for rescues and animal shelters:

The article at the 1st link above is a very good one, and should be read and remembered by ANYONE that has animals because you may find you need the information it contains in the near future since Animal Enterprise Terrorism attacks aka “seizure scams” are occurring in epidemic proportions in the United States, and all over the world.
And even if you thankfully never find yourself needing it, you perhaps may know someone who does and/or will need this important information.

However, a few important factors were left out of the article in the 1st link regarding the MAIN reasons that the Founders and Primary Participants with many animal rescues do the things they do with ramping-up “social media madness mobs” to attack animal owners under false, not illegal pretenses.

Here are two of the primary reasons they do what they do, but there are less significant ones that play into their “rescue racket” scam they’re running too that will be addressed here at a later date:

1. Free donation MONEY coming in by the bushel barrel-baskets to these “retail rescues” aka “retail-welfare rescues” (called that because they live off the kindness and naiveté of others) via animal lovers from across the country and around the world because of FREE “social media marketing” being “real time” and simple and easy to do.
The donor animal lovers send in thousands of dollars in donation money to help with the constantly manufactured “crisis rescuing” and/or “sympathy rescuing” for animals that often do NOT need rescuing at all, but are often animals that can be sold on an “adoption for a fee” (selling) aka “flipping” scam that is a great money-maker for these “rescues that aren’t”.
And once the founder and/or primary players in the “rescue” turn loose the hounds (their supporters and followers) to harass, threaten, attack, and stalk their targets, many of the tax payer-funded government agencies in towns, cities, and counties “roll-over” to their demands to “look like they are doing something” even though they have already investigated the complaints and found little or nothing wrong.  Then there are also the politicians in charge in these cities, towns, and counties who “circle the wagons” and in order to look good, get re-elected, etc, they literally throw their tax paying resident that is being attacked “under the bus” and they too go on the attack using tax payers money, and with the “help” of a vicious donation-funded “retail rescue” saying they will take-in the animals (often peoples family-member animals).
At that point, the targets are so over-whelmed, terrified, etc, they either surrender animals hoping to stop the attack and avoid being arrested, having their kids taken away by CPS if they have minor children, and prosecuted (and sadly, the attacks don’t usually stop at all and THEY are blamed if animals die even if that was actually the choice of the “rescue” to euthanize.

Retail-rescues often kill so-called “rescued” animals that have no more “donation-value” left, and when they had/have “issues” which made/make them worthless in an “adoption with” or even without a fee, because these “retail rescues” are NOT in the business of letting animals hang-out and live with other animals because, hey, THEY are a “retail rescue” and only keep “merchandise” that happens to be animals around that are “useable for something”, so they kill them once their value is exhausted), or they have animals seized because the target does not have enough money to hire a knowledgeable attorney to help them.

2. Since many of these retail-rescues have founders and primary participants that are not truly animal lovers and only are “into” rescue as their latest swindle because of the money-making opportunities available (really terrifying is that more and more animal control officers are going “into” rescue because “retail-rescuing” pays much better than being an ACO ever will, they have the control and power with no accountability from the public being required  – yet – and they bring their “culture of killing” animals that they “de-value” with them into “rescue”, and also their ability to lie with no remorse and cheat with no conscience)  when they “play to their audience” of real animal lovers and play on their emotions of animals NEEDING rescue.
Many of these people are sociopaths and/or narcissists, and have bottom-less pits of needing ego-strokes, so the perfect vehicle to not only make FREE donation money, other free material possessions, and also not have to work in a “real job”, is to become a “rescuer” where they will also get tremendous amounts of accolades, praise, pats on the back, be called “hero’s”, etc.
They actually NEED their egos to be fed on a daily basis, so in order to do that, and also because they are often sociopaths and narcissist’s, they will say or do whatever it takes to portray themselves as self-less advocates and rescuers of animals, they lie, they commit fraud, they incite “social media madness mobs” to attack people they don’t even know, and many other things.

The FACT however is that it is EASY to have a nice facility, its EASY to rescue animals, its EASY to portray yourself as an expert because “look at what a nice place I have” and “look how many animals we rescue” and “look how many followers and supporters we have from all over the world” WHEN the swindler is operating solely off the kindness of real, honest-to-goodness animal lovers that donate $$$, and they use little, if any, of their own money because they DON’T HAVE JOBS and could NOT “do” rescue without other people funding it.
Many of these crooks are also collecting disability payments even though they are not disabled, many are simply horse traders, animal brokers and dealers POSING as animal rescues and rescuers, but they have found their beautiful niche in animal rescue where they sham the public out of their hard-earned money, get material goods such as property, vehicles, equipment for “the rescue”, and also get lovely accolades and praise about how “wonderful they are”.

The need for ACCOUNTABILY and FULL DISCLOSURE has become a NECESSITY because THAT is the only way to bring people like this down; ASKING QUESTIONS and not DONATING and SUPPORTING them until the answers are forth-coming. Oh, and a REALLY IMPORTANT question that is asked in the questionnaire and NEEDS to be answered is “exactly WHERE are all of the animals they have rescued”…..alive? Dead? Who-knows-where?

Fraudsters tell so many lies to get what they want, they are incapable of remembering what lies they told to which people, so asking them questions and expecting answers that can be FACT-checked and VERIFIED before money and/or support is offered, will blow these swindlers right out of the rescue-arena, and then the real rescues who will be happy to answer any and all questions, but who are not “show-boaters”, who don’t lie in order to get what they want, and who usually do the “no fanfare” rescuing that is often too “boring” for some people who are “addicted to crisis rescuing” will get the support from the public they could really use.
However, there is no way for honest people to compete in animal rescue with those who are off-the-charts with their lying, “posing”, cheating, and lack of conscience, honesty, honor, integrity, and morals and is the difference between writing a book of fiction claiming it is all fact…..absurd, but the naïve public believes these con-artists in retail-rescue, and animals are being stolen, people are having their lives destroyed, and the criminals are making off with sometimes millions of dollars, just as many animals are killed, they disappear, but the short-memoried animal loving public doesn’t seem to care at all.

Many people think they would never be the victims of an Animal Enterprise Terrorism “seizure scam” attack.
The FACT however is that if YOU have animals, and if YOU have something these scammers posing as rescuers want, YOU could be their next target and victim of an attack when they get their vicious hooks into YOU, and although YOU may say “they’ll never take my animals away from me”, the other unfortunate FACT is that when YOU are attacked and it goes VIRILE and YOU have “social media madness mobs” bombarding the town, city, county you live in with phone calls, texts, PM’s, emails, faxes, etc, and the politicians decide they have to look like “we’re doing something” in order to appease the “social media madness mobs” that are mean, blood-thirsty, self-righteous, and relentless,  YOU could be left crying, arrested, booked, and fighting for your freedom while your family-member animals are who-knows-where with someone else, “disappeared” in various ways never to be seen or heard from again, or KILLED, and it is all blamed on YOU.

Here’s the link to the Accountability and Full Disclosure blog post explaining why accountability and full disclosure for publically operated, donation-funded animal rescues is a NECESSITY NOW.

The post contains a link to an Accountability and Full Disclosure Questionnaire/Checklist that can be sent to donation-funded rescues that operate publically:

And if animal owners don’t send out accountability questionnaires and insist they get answers, and if they don’t do something to stop these “retail-welfare rescues” in their tracks NOW, don’t be too surprised when YOU have animals these fraudsters and criminals want for free that they can then sell, and YOU and YOURS will be destroyed, your beloved and/or valuable animals will be sold into new homes, some will be killed and you’ll be blamed for it, and some will simply disappear, and no one will believe you at all when you tell the truth because what people really think is that “the ‘rescue’ wouldn’t have taken their animals if everything was O.K.” and YOU will be painted as the villain and animal abuser all over the country, and perhaps all over the world too.

In closing, no one should get the impression that just because an animal rescue is only able to operate from the kindness of the donating public that they are greedy, selfish, ego-maniacs, etc. Many people in the public DO want to help, and sending donations and being supportive of animal rescues is one way in which to do that.

However, WHEN a primarily donation-funded rescue puts themselves out in the public-eye, WHEN they ask for and receive donations from the animal loving public, and WHEN they orchestrate public scrutiny campaigns against animal owners, then THEY have a responsibility and a DUTY to the supportive, donating PUBLIC, whose kindness and generosity provides them with the funds and ability to perform rescue operations, to demonstrate accountability, full disclosure, transparency, and answer questions they are asked that go to operating in the public-domain.

When they are also doing “calls to rescue” and utilizing massive numbers of people in the social media realm to be their own militia to “reach out” and contact law enforcement, neighbors of their “target for scrutiny”, do “drive-by’s”, etc, they should not have the options to either ignore or go on the attack of the folks asking questions whose answers can be fact-checked and verified for accuracy and truth.

In other words, they “can’t have their cake and eat it too”, and should NEVER be allowed to operate and collect money in the public-domain and choose when they want to be a public entity, and then choose not to be operating publically and NOT be accountable and transparent; it is NOT up to them to choose one or the other based on their whims and fancy, so if a questionnaire is sent to a publically operated donation-funded animal rescue, they should be more than happy to answer questions…..and if they won’t, something that stinks is going on most likely, and it will be left up to the AG’s office to sort it out when complaints are filed.

The Un-United States of America in OUR Open Range States? – Our Loss of OUR PUBLIC Open Range

Below is a comment in regard to a story at the link here:

We live out surrounded by federal and state land, and also vacant privately owned land out here in the desert in an “open range” state and have been writing for 12-15 years that ANYONE and EVERYONE that utilizes OUR public land for hiking, biking, riding quads, hunting, fishing, camping, horseback riding, etc NEEDS to, ALL BAND TOGETHER and keep our federally protected free roaming wild horses and burros FREE ROAMING as mandated by the 1971 Protection Act.

If they are eradicated, the fences will go up faster than what we’re even seeing happening now, and then the public that is stuck paying for maintenance of our public land, and also the killing (called “sanitizing”) of thousands upon thousands of animals that are either predators to the cattle and sheep and/or compete for the forage and water, will literally continue to pay in order that private businesses, mostly corporations, can operate their businesses on OUR land, but we will get absolutely nothing in return because we won’t be able to utilize OUR public land.

Right now, the federally protected FREE ROAMING wild horses and burros are the only individuals standing between every person in the public sector that utilizes our unfenced public land (and it has to stay primarily unfenced OPEN RANGE while the wild horses and burros are out there because they MUST be allowed to ROAM FREE in their VAST Herd Management Areas (HMA’s) and cannot be inhibited from doing so, but by God, the factions that want to fence and control OUR public land will just not stop until they get what they want unless the majority who ARE the public tell them “stop it!”, and while we do understand ranching is generational in families for many, many decades and centuries, the corporations have even taken over and been sold the “mom and pop” ranches that have the very valuable grazing and water rights, so it would behoove the remaining “mom and pop” ranching businesses to JOIN with other people interested in having the federal public land remain unfenced because otherwise they will be pushed-out by corporate interests who do HAVE the money to do it), and the private businesses who will fence it off once the horses and burros are gone and won’t let ANYONE use it without either paying a “User Fee”, or if we go onto our fenced land anyway, we’ll probably be fined and/or arrested for trespassing on our own damn land we pay to maintain.

If people from various walks of life who currently utilize our public land, or even people who just love the wild horses and burros from afar and want them to remain free roaming, can’t figure out how to BAND TOGETHER and support our wild horses and burros remaining FREE ROAMING, the wild horses, the burros, and anyone who utilizes the land for recreation will be sh*t outta luck once those wild horses and burros who are preventing the fences from going up everywhere are eradicated, and no one should whine about it later because there are people like us, George Knapp, and others who have been trying to rally people for years on this issue to stop it.

And unless someone lives in an Open Range state with a lot of rural/remote federal land, its pretty much impossible to absorb how much ranching, mining, and development DOMINATE our states.
Another thing; in speaking with ranchers quite often out in the “wooly-wilds” of the Open Range desert, one thing we’ve noticed over the past 22+ years that never changes with them is their intent to get rid of the federally protected free roaming wild horses and burros. They know that once they are eradicated, it’s “game over” and the fences and control is all theirs.

They are also, to a man and/or woman rancher, all pro-commercial horse slaughter too, so we know precisely what will happen to the captive-wild horses, “the pure meat” so-to-speak if they get control of them……they will be slaughtered because they ship their own breeding stock horses, their used-up ranch horses, etc to slaughter all the time because for ranchers, horses ARE livestock, and they are food-chain animals, even the baby horses 6+ months old (sometimes they are younger when they are shipped if they “look” at least 6 months old, but are not) which are considered a delicacy in foreign horse meat eating countries and is called “filet of foal” or “veal” by people in the commercial horse slaughter business-industry.

However, when we have a state like California, that is very liberal and animal loving and passed a ban on any horse slaughter dealings back in 1998, that has kill buyers at every, single sale and donation-funded “horse rescues that aren’t” collecting donations to “outbid the kill buyers” instead of helping the AG’s office with enforcement of the LAW that has only been enforced 1 TIME in 16+ years, it really appears that this is always all about $$$, even for people who are supposed to be on opposing sides of the issue (and yes, donation-funded “retail-welfare-rescues” are in the BUSINESS of making money from “the threat” of bad things happening to animals, and in the case of horse rescues that attend sales in CA where they “outbid kill buyers”, they are not only witnessing crimes at all the sales, they are “enabling” them to be committed so they can collect thousands of $$$ in free donation money to “rescue” horses from the sale that should NOT be in jeopardy of going to slaughter from CA because it is ILLEGAL and the law needs to be ENFORCED, but that is not a money-maker for them, and would stop a main source of free money donations to them instead), and THAT is disgusting.

So if we can’t even get that law enforced in a liberal, horse/animal loving state like CA, how in the world does anyone think there is a prayer in hell that a law like that will pass in states that are DOMINATED by the livestock industry that is across-the-board pro-horse slaughter.

If we can’t band together soon, we will lose our public land we taxpayers will still have to pay for, and the wild horses and burros will lose their lives……tragic indeed but it still could be turned around if we act soon, and people from various backgrounds and interests who don’t normally interact organize, band together, and protect the free roaming wild horses and burros that are rightfully on the public land, and are legally mandated to be PRIMARILY managed on the UNFENCED public land in their HMA’s, many of which have been zeroed-out for them, but cattle graze there now, and mining operations run full bore where wild horses have roamed for decades and centuries.

Put our differences aside, and we can still win this one for the majority that is the American public who don’t benefit monetarily from our federal public land staying unfenced, but we benefit greatly in other non-material ways, and we will join together to have a “seat at the table” when decisions are made regarding OUR PUBLIC LAND and OUR wild horses and burros.

Accountability and Full Disclosure Questionnaire/Checklist for Animal Rescue Organizations

As promised, here is the Accountability and Full Disclosure Questionnaire/Checklist for Animal Rescue Organizations.

It is designed to be sent to donation-funded animal rescues and/or other animal rescue/welfare organizations before donations are made to them. It speaks to the matter of accountability, transparency, honesty, ethics, and integrity.

Accountability and Full Disclosure Questionnaire-A Necessity

When rescues are willing to complete the questionnaire, provide the information asked for, and will follow-through with publically providing the information they assured the sender they would provide, there is a greater than average chance that they are an inspiringly REAL rescue, and they either find homes for animals and/or provide sanctuary/hospice care, rather than disposing of un-useable animals in various ways, and animals disappear without a trace. And if the rescue sadly has no other choice but to humanely euthanize an animal, when documentation is provided, and there is no lack of evidence of humane euthanasia being the only course of action, then it is clear this decision is not what is known as “de-valuing” and “convenience killing” as many “rescues” whose hearts are NOT true appear to be doing nowadays.
Most people would know and agree it is the kindest and most peaceful of choices after viewing concise and factual information and documentation, even when a difficult decision to make, sending the animals’ spirit to The Rainbow Bridge; there is solace in knowing it was the only choice, and not merely the “disposal” of an un-useable animal that no one wanted to feed or maintain anymore after they had no more “donation-value”, or any “monetary or material value”.

Supporting rescues that have no hidden agenda in their rescue efforts is life-saving. It is not the gullible and naive lining-of-the-pockets and monetary and material enrichment of people who don’t care about ALL animals, and are mostly interested in animals that are good for collecting “crisis” and/or “pity” donations on, or have value in re-selling in an “adoption-for-a-fee” “retail-rescue” transaction.
Many kind-hearted, compassionate people are unable to do “hands-on” rescuing of animals for reasons that are emotional, practical, or financial.
However, many people do want to participate in rescuing animals, and their help is offered by monetary donations, materials for the care of the rescued animals, professional services, etc to primarily donation-funded animal rescues/organizations.

With non-profit animal rescues operating in record numbers all over the United States in the thriving animal rescue “industry”, and with the help of “real time” “social media marketing” making it simple and easy for small-to-medium size rescues and organizations to market themselves for free instead of having to have large marketing budgets, verification and fact-checking has now become a necessity to help prospective donors, foundations and organizations that offer grants, and followers of the rescue decide what rescues and organizations to “help” and support.

Currently, people ask questions, with the primary question heard most often being “WHERE are ALL of the animals residing 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after donation money rescued/bought them?”

Asking questions and receiving accountability and full disclosure from many primarily donation-funded animal rescue/welfare organizations has historically been difficult at best, people are often disrespectfully ignored, and asking simple, non-intrusive questions of PUBLIC donation-funded animal rescues frequently becomes combative and threatening at worst.

This questionnaire/checklist is a useful tool that allows the rescues and organizations who are truly transparent to demonstrate that they can be trusted and they have no problem showing all types of written, photographic, and video documentation (not just “staged photo-op’s” many “rescues” do) proving they are honest and forthright. Public trust is important to them as they do the often difficult task of rescuing, and full disclosure can lead to support from the public which helps more animals.
With so many rescues springing-up, the donating public also wants to know if they are instead dealing with “retail-welfare rescues” who are really nothing more than animal brokers/dealers/horse traders and “opportunists” who profit from the kindness of other people, and animals are often mere “props” and “merchandise” used to collect money, material goods, and also those accolades and “pat’s on the back” that are so important to narcissistic people.

Taking care of animals, whether the animals are useable, or perhaps “not so much”, has priceless value; the rescuers who will be happy to fill out this questionnaire sent to them asking for information also KNOW in the deepest part of their soul that every animal teaches them about life and living, and often “the rescued” becomes “the rescuer”, and that is the difference between seeing dollar signs when one looks at an animal, or God’s perfect creation in each and every animal he has brought to them to care for.
